Luxury Kitchen Upgrades with Great ROI

The kitchen is the most important room in the house when it comes to adding value. And since you spend so much time in it, not only should it be functional, but it should also look great and even offer a little luxury. If you want to add some luxury upgrades to your kitchen that still offer a great return on investment consider these options.

Quartz counters

Quartz is by far my favourite counter top material. It’s durable, long lasting, and looks great. It’s definitely a high-end material, but the long-term value you get from Quartz makes it a no-brainer when it comes to return on investment.

Breakfast bar

With traditional dining areas going the way of the dodo bird, breakfast bars are becoming increasingly popular. They provide a great casual dining spot as well as an extra surface for food prep.

Waterfall Island

Waterfall islands, particularly those made of Quartz, add instant elegance. They have a modern, sculptural shape that elevates them into the realm of luxury. And with the emergence of integrated living/eating areas, more and more people are looking for the streamlined look of a continuous surface.

Kitchen cabinets with extended uppers

Storage is important, even in the biggest of kitchens, so I often recommend getting upper cabinets that extend all the way to the ceiling. Not only does it provide more storage and avoid that awkward shelf on top of the cabinets, it creates a sleeker look that can actually make the ceilings appear higher.

Quality hardware

Small but mighty is how I describe hardware. It doesn’t take up a lot of space, but the effect it has on a room is huge. You don’t have to spend a fortune on hardware, but I recommend buying the best you can afford. And avoid novelty hardware. A simple, sleek design in a brushed chrome (or gold if you really want to amp up the luxury) is ideal.

I’m such a fan of these upgrades that I’ve included all of them in the Scott McGillivray Collection of units at Fifth Avenue Homes, Richmond Hill. I’m really excited about this opportunity because we’re able to offer a select group of homeowners thousands of dollars in upgrades at no additional cost. These and the other upgrades we’ve made as part of the collection will provide homeowners with stylish, functional spaces that offer great long-term value.

#ScottTip – For the best return on investment always choose stainless steel appliances. What was once thought of as a trend has become the go-to finish for any and all appliances. While other finishes will come and go, stainless steel looks like it’s going to be around for a long time.
