ROCKWOOL is the world’s leading manufacturer of stone wool insulation.

Rockwool

SAFE’n’SOUND® is for use in interior partitions of residential wood and steel stud construction where excellent acoustical performance and superior fire resistance is required – withstanding temperatures up to 2,150°F OR 1,177°C.

SAFE’n’SOUND® provides valuable passive fire protection in new construction or renovations.   It is ideal for use in home theatres, music rooms, mechanical rooms, laundry rooms, bathrooms, bedrooms, home offices and more.

Innovation

ROCKWOOL insulation products offer outstanding fire, acoustic and thermal insulation properties that make homes safer, quieter, more comfortable and resilient.

  • Quality ROCKWOL stone wool offers greater dimensional stability, so it stays firmly in place to provide performance benefits over the life of the building
  • Simple to install
  • Cuts easily with an insulation knife or serrate blade such as a bread knife
  • Higher density – easy friction-fit into walls, ceilings and floors
  • Fire resistant, non-combustible, and does not produce toxic smoke
  • Excellent sound absorbency
  • Does not promote the growth of mold or mildew, bacteria or rot
  • Low moisture absorption – Water and moisture resistant
  • Sustainable – comprised of abundant raw materials (basalt rock) and recycled content (slag).

ROCKWOOL insulation will not promote flame spread or contribute to smoke development, even when directly exposed to fire. In fact, because it is non-combustible, it can slow the progression of fire, protecting escape routes and allowing valuable extra time for people to reach safety and for fire services personnel to arrive.

Value

When comparing the installation of ROCKWOOL to fibreglass with given R values, the overall cost is generally similar. For most jobs, price differences are so small they don’t matter nearly as much as a more pleasant working experience, quicker installation, long-term stability, and better benefits including superior fire protection, sound absorbency and thermal performance.  Compared to other brands of stone wool, I prefer the composition and handling of ROCKWOOL.  While priced similarly, per square foot,  the ROCKWOOL bags contain more product than some other options in the stone wool category.

Quality

ROCKWOOL stone wool insulation handles well and installs quickly. The semi-rigid batts are designed to compress as they are inserted into walls, attics, ceilings and floor frames, providing an important benefit. The flexible edge springs back, expanding the batt against the frame studs to give a complete fill.  This will often automatically compensate for any variation or warping in the studs themselves.  It also ensures the expected R-value is achieved and maintained – for a more comfortable home year after year.  ROCKWOOL’s numerous advantages make it my top choice, hands down.

ROCKWOOL products are GREENGUARD Gold certified, sustainable and contribute to greater energy efficiency in buildings and reduced carbon emissions.

ROCKWOOL has been able to harness the natural power of stone – the world’s most abundant resource – into strengths that are inherent in the versatile properties of its stone wool products.
