Get the Look: Basement Family Room

Category: ,

There’s a myth out there that basements are always dark and dreary. Not true. In my opinion basements get a bad rap, because as you can see from the photos of this basement family room, when decorated thoughtfully they can be bright, warm, and comfortable.

The key to achieving this look is to keep things warm. Mix warm neutrals with a strong but warm color (in this case red), and layer in some natural materials like rattan or sisal. It’s an easy decorating scheme that can be recreated just about anywhere.

Don’t forget about decorating. Just because the contractor’s done it doesn’t mean your job is over. You still need to buy furniture, window treatments and accessories. Make sure you’ve included these in the budget.
