One part savvy real estate investor, one part skilled contractor and one part accomplished entrepreneur, Scott McGillivray is a triple threat.
Scott McGillivray’s passion lies in educating homeowners to make smart renovation and investment decisions that deliver financial rewards.
Before graduating with an Honors degree in Commerce, Scott had already discovered his calling. What began as an ambitious school project about income properties developed into a unique and strategic business model that Scott would later execute himself. Scott learned his trade through necessity – he became a licensed contractor to renovate and maintain his rental properties.
Scott was born and raised in Toronto and now divides his time between residences in Toronto, Ontario and Fort Myers, Florida. He is married with two daughters.
Best known as the host and executive producer of the award-winning HGTV series, Income Property, Scott has taken home renovation television to the next level, helping cash-strapped homeowners choose their perfect investment property and renovate it to generate maximum rental income. 140+ episodes over 11 seasons currently air on HGTV and DiY Network, as well as other networks across 30+ countries.
In 2016 Scott executive produced and starred in Moving the McGillivrays, a 10-part series for HGTV Canada that welcomed viewers into Scott’s family life and home.
Scott’s television presence extends to include being one of the faces of HGTV’s hit series Flipping the Block, Canada’s Handyman Challenge and All-American Handyman.
He has also appeared in several other HGTV programs including Debbie Travis’ Facelift, From the Ground Up, and Holiday Battle on the Block.
