Get the Look: Basement Family Room

Basement Family Room

There’s a myth out there that basements are always dark and dreary. Not true. In my opinion basements get a bad rap, because as you can see from the photos of this basement family room, when decorated thoughtfully they can be bright, warm, and comfortable.

Basement Family Room 2

The key to achieving the look of this basement family room is to keep things warm. Mix warm neutrals with a strong but warm color (in this case red), and layer in some natural materials like rattan or sisal. It’s an easy decorating scheme that can be recreated just about anywhere.
