Get the Look: Modern Living Room
A lot of people seem to think that modern spaces are cold and lacking in personality. I disagree. Well designed, modern spaces can be comfortable, and even – wait for it… – cozy! Take this modern living room for example. The majority of the pieces in the room are considered modern or contemporary, but the overall feeling is one of comfort and relaxation.
If you’re trying to achieve a modern but comfortable look I suggest including a few key patterns (geometrics work best in modern spaces) and a decent mix of materials. To keep things from getting too cold you’ll want to include some warm materials such as wood (seen here in the coffee table base and mantel) and make sure you’ve got some soft accessories like accent pillows and throws. Also, if you’re using a lot of neutral or dark colors throw in something bright just to keep things interesting.
