I’m thrilled to announce that after almost 20 years in the renovation and design industry (20 years – wow!) I’m branching out into home furnishings. I’ve teamed up with my friends at Thomasville Cabinetry to create the first product in the SCOTT MCGILLIVRAY COLLECTION. It’s a bathroom vanity called The Sterling, and it’s available at Home Depot stores across Canada.
This collection is all about creating high quality and well designed products that are available at affordable prices. Whether you’re renovating your home, or just want a quick update, the SCOTT MCGILLIVRAY COLLECTION can offer quick and easy answers.
“On trend, but not trendy.”
When I was designing this vanity with my partners at Thomasville, the goal I had in mind was to create a stylish piece to fit today’s interiors, but I didn’t want something that would quickly go out of style. My business is all about creating a good return on investment, and I kept that top of mind while designing this piece. We made sure it had a timeless design and a neutral finish so that it can work with a variety of different bathroom styles and colours.
The Sterling vanity has a white, cultured marble top that gives it a classic contemporary edge, and an integrated sink that creates a seamless and streamlined effect. The look is substantial without being clunky, and it fits in with all kinds of interior design styles. The matching mirror (which is included with every vanity) takes away any guesswork and completes the look.
I’ve always maintained that when it comes to bathroom vanities it’s important to go with higher quality models rather than flimsy, inexpensive options. They see A LOT of wear and tear, and if you want them to go the distance, you need to make the investment. That’s why with this piece we opted to go for painted wood rather than melamine. It will last for years and can stand up to whatever your family inflicts on it (within reason of course!) I’m thrilled that we’re still able to offer it at an affordable price so that you can get the best of both worlds.
A new vanity is an easy way to change the entire feel of your bathroom without breaking the bank. To show you what I mean, I did a quick before and after of a boring basement bathroom. I switched out the vanity, light fixture and flooring, and added a new coat of paint. The entire thing was done in a weekend and the total cost was just over $1000. Since updating a bathroom can add a good amount of value to a house, the return on investment makes it totally worthwhile.
